New3DGE Art Test 26

Used:

My accepted art test for New3DGE CA 27.

Sometime ago;
Long ago,
the world shattered.
The oracles tell stories of it being the wrath of the gods; punishment for our misdeeds. The drunks of the lower districts boast that it was their doing, that the world itself quivered in fear of their might. The scholaria, in their dry nature, attribute it instead to the natural cycle of the universe. No matter what one believes, the end remains the same.
It drove my people away from the cracking earth and up into the skies, diving through the clouds alongside ancient birds, with new wings of our own. Ever onward, we searched for new lands to call home.
~ Icarus

The art test consisted of 3 parts around the central theme of a society living by some (arcane- ) mechanical means in the clouds.
1: Depict a a harbour of the society, depicting their societal structure, cultural influences, and their means of living.
2: Designing a pilot character of this world. Not too unique as to be too removed from the larger world, but unique enough to tell his character by a glance.
3: Design the pilot’s aircraft. A tool of daily use, it should show wear and tear, as well as display the pilot’s daily job, as well as elaborate on the cultures means of flight.
This art test was a great challenge. By its’ end I already wanted to start all over again, as I learned so much in the process, that it looked not good enough. But it got finished, and after a short wait, I am happy to announce that I have been accepted in the 27/28 batch of applicants.

Next stop Paris and beyond.
