“Target - Render Step By Step” was a 2D Rendering done while participating at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences’ Animation Program. It was created as part of the 4th Semesters Final Project. We were tasked with creating an animation over the 3rd and 4th semester of university. As part of this we were also tasked with creating a Target render to properly visualize the style and atmosphere we were going for.

With our project we chose to follow a protagonist puppet, as it descends a seemingly abandoned house, uncovering more and more memories of its past, until having to confront and choose between its past trauma or its resolution.

As part of this I was tasked with rendering a 2D render of a frame from the animation. With this work I aimed to settle the texture and mesh style of our project, keeping both to a simplified, stylised approach as to safe time with asset production later in the pipeline, as we had a stronger focus on character animation, and scene progression.

Make Up:

  • The base concept and prompt for the larger project was brainstormed by me.
  • The concept was then refined and reworked as a group.
  • The character design was made by another group member.
  • The environment layout was done by another group member.
  • The environment design and rendering was done by me.
